1. Download Thunderbird 17.0.6 32bit

   Thunderbird 17.0.6 i686 tar.bz2

   Choose the Language from the Linked List of Thunderbird Linux Releases.

2. Double-Click on Archive and Extract it Into the /tmp Directory.

   
3. Open a Terminal Window
   
4. Relocate Thunderbird:
   
   • Login as the SuperUser
     

     su

   • Move Thunderbird to Location

     mv /tmp/thunderbird /opt/

     Eventually Make a SymLink

     ln  -fs  /opt/thunderbird/thunderbird  /usr/bin/thunderbird

   • After to Start Thunderbird from Terminal

     hunderbird
