How-to Install Latest Thunderbird 17.0.6 x86_64 on Slackware 14 KDE4 64bit Easy Visual-Guide

This Short Guide Simply Show How-to Install the Latest Thunderbird 17.0.6 64bit for Linux Slackware 14 KDE4 x86_64 Desktop.

The Same Procedure with only some Little changes will Work also on Other Slackware Releases.

Thunderbird on Slackware


  1. Download Latest Thunderbird for Linux:

    Thunderbird 17.0.6 x86_64 tar.bz2
  2. Double-Click on Archive and Extract it Into the /tmp Directory.

    Debian KDE Extract Thuderbird
  3. Open Terminal Window
    Linux KDE4 12 Open Terminal
  4. Relocate Thunderbird:
    • Login as the SuperUser
      su
    • Relocate Thunderbird
      mv /tmp/thunderbird /opt/

      Make a SymLink

      ln -fs /opt/thunderbird/thunderbird  /usr/bin/thunderbird

    Then to Start Thunderbird from Terminal

    thunderbird
